How Awqat as-Salah calculates prayer times
Every time is calculated from the sun’s position at each city’s exact coordinates, using the open-source adhan library. Nothing is copied from other timetables.

Sects and Asr
Hanafi Asr begins when an object’s shadow is twice its length. Shafi‘i, Maliki, Hanbali and Jafria Asr begins when the shadow equals its length. Jafria uses the Jafari method (Leva Institute, Qum), and the Tehran method in Iran.
Nafl prayers
Ishraq starts 15 minutes after sunrise. Chasht starts when a quarter of the day has passed and ends 10 minutes before Dhuhr. Awwabin is between Maghrib and Isha. Tahajjud is the last third of the night. Salat al-Layl runs from midnight until Fajr. The last part of the night is best.
Hijri date
Hijri dates follow the Umm al-Qura calendar. Local moon sighting can differ by a day, so Settings lets you adjust it.
Accuracy
Calculated times can differ from your local mosque by a few minutes. For jama‘ah times, follow your mosque.
