Isha prayer time: when it starts and ends العشاء
Today in Makkah: 7:40 PM to 4:55 AM · All prayer times for Makkah
When does Isha start?
Isha starts when twilight has left the sky. Methods place this when the sun is about 14° to 18° below the horizon, or a fixed 90 minutes after Maghrib (Umm al-Qura and Qatar).
When does Isha end?
In the Sunni schools, Isha lasts until Fajr, but it is best prayed before midnight. The Jafari school sets its end at midnight.
How many rak‘ahs is Isha?
4 fard rak‘ahs, followed by sunnah prayers. Witr is prayed after Isha, before Fajr.
Where the schools differ
Abu Hanifa held that Isha starts when the white twilight disappears, later than the red twilight used by the other schools. SalaahDaily uses each country’s official method for every school.
